Article Content

We thank the authors of the Letter to the Editor for their interest in our article.1 The commentary illuminating the strengths and weaknesses of our protocol has further validated the value this review of support group participation may hold for those experiencing infertility. We sincerely appreciate the constructive remarks regarding the lack of references to the spiritual dimension. This oversight on our part does not diminish our assertion that infertility can impact a person physically, mentally, emotionally and financially, as well as spiritually. We agree that support group participation may give rise to a sense of connectedness and other facets of spirituality. We are confident that utilizing the JBI mega-aggregation approach will provide the guidance necessary to appropriately appraise the relevant articles, and extract and synthesize any spirituality-associated findings.2 Although the method is not intended to forecast or reinterpret findings, we will be mindful to observe the extractions for the characteristics of spiritual distress3 and other aspects of spiritual journey for those experiencing infertility.4-6

We are invested in gaining further understanding of the benefits of infertility support groups and informing healthcare providers of the potential for enhancing the care of those suffering with infertility.
